Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour 240 g, for structure
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder for leavening
  • 1 teaspoon sugar for slight sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder not garlic salt, for flavor
  • ½ teaspoon table salt for seasoning
  • ½ cup unsalted butter 113 g, room temperature, cut into 1-inch pieces for mixing
  • 1 cup shredded mild or medium cheddar cheese 113 g, for cheesy flavor
  • 1 cup buttermilk 236 ml, for moisture and tenderness
Butter Topping
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter 42 g, melted, for brushing
  • 1 garlic clove minced (for garlicky flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley for garnish and flavor
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder for extra flavor

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Cut the butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or fork until crumbly.
  4. Add the shredded cheddar and buttermilk, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Using a 3-tablespoon cookie scoop or large spoon, portion the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing biscuits about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until golden brown on top.
  7. While baking, whisk together melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and garlic powder for the topping.
  8. As soon as biscuits are removed from the oven, brush them with the garlic butter mixture.
  9. Serve warm.
