The Mushroom Base:
  • 2 tablespoon Butter - Unsalted preferred
  • 1 medium Yellow onion - Diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic - Minced
  • 450 g Fresh mushrooms - Button or cremini sliced
  • 2 tablespoon All-purpose flour - For thickening
  • 4 cups Vegetable broth - Or chicken broth
  • 1 cup Heavy cream - Or half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh thyme leaves - Or ½ teaspoon dried
  • 1 teaspoon Salt - To taste
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper -Freshly ground
Optional Add-Ins:
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice - Brightens flavor
  • ¼ cup White wine -Adds depth
  • 2 tablespoon Parmesan cheese - Grated for richness
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh parsley - For garnish

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Wipe and slice mushrooms, set aside
  2. Sauté diced onion and garlic in melted butter
  3. Add mushrooms and cook until they release and evaporate water

  5. Pour in broth, add thyme, salt, and simmer for 10 minutes
