Ingredients

  • 8 large croissants fresh bakery-style sliced horizontally
  • 16 slices Swiss cheese thinly sliced for even melting
  • 16 slices deli ham smoked or honey ham works well
  • 1.25 tablespoons butter melted unsalted preferred
  • 1.25 tablespoons honey mild runny honey is ideal
  • teaspoons Dijon mustard smooth-style recommended
  • teaspoons poppy seeds for light crunch and visual appeal

Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheet Standard-size sheet large enough to hold all croissants without crowding
  • 1 Parchment paper or silicone baking mat Prevents sticking and makes cleanup quick and easy
  • 1 Pastry Brush Used to evenly coat the croissants with glaze; a spoon and fingers can work in a pinch

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the croissants open and arrange the bottom halves on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Lay one slice of cheese onto each croissant bottom, add two slices of ham, then finish with another slice of cheese.
  4. Place the croissant tops back on to form complete sandwiches.
  5. Combine the melted butter, honey, Dijon mustard, and poppy seeds until fully blended.
  6. Brush the glaze generously over the tops of each croissant using a pastry brush.
  7. Bake until the cheese has melted and the croissants are lightly deepened in color, about 6–8 minutes.
