Healthy Mango Iced Tea Recipe

Updated: Apr 9, 2026 · Published: Mar 17, 2026 by Safa Errifi · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Golden mango nectar swirled into bold black tea, studded with fresh raspberries and sweet mango slices that float like little jewels in your glass. This Mango Iced Tea is what I make when the weather gets warm and I need something cold, fruity, and refreshing without spending all afternoon in the kitchen. I first made this on a hot Saturday when my daughter Olivia asked if we could have "fancy tea like at the restaurant," and I threw together what I had in the fridge. It turned out better than anything we'd ever ordered, and now it's our go-to summer drink. It takes about five minutes of actual work, and it's so much better than store-bought.

Why You'll Love This Mango Iced Tea

It's ridiculously fast. Five minutes of active time, then you just let it chill. No complicated steps or hard-to-find ingredients.

Naturally sweetened. The mango nectar adds plenty of sweetness on its own, so you don't need much added sugar. You can skip the honey entirely if you want.

Visually stunning. The mango slices and raspberries floating in the tea make it look like something you'd order at a fancy café.

Low in calories. At just 88 calories per glass, this is a guilt-free way to enjoy something sweet and fruity.

Customizable. Swap the raspberries for strawberries, use green tea instead of black, or add a splash of sparkling water for fizz.

Mango Iced Tea Ingredients

Here's everything to make this fresh fruit tea come together in minutes.

See Recipe Card Below This Post For Ingredient Quantities

Water: Forms the base of the tea, bringing out the flavor of the tea bags when boiled.

Black tea bags: English breakfast tea is my favorite because it's bold and slightly bitter, which balances the sweetness of the Mango Iced Teaango. The strong flavor holds up well when chilled.

Mango nectar or juice: Adds sweet, tropical flavor and a beautiful golden color. Mango Iced Tea nectar is thicker and richer than juice, but either works.

Honey: Optional, but a drizzle of honey adds extra sweetness if your mango nectar isn't sweet enough. You can also use agave or simple syrup.

Fresh mango slices: These float in the tea and add bursts of sweet, juicy mango flavor with every sip. Plus, they look gorgeous.

Raspberries: Add a tart, fruity contrast to the sweet Mango Iced Tea and make the tea look even prettier. They also release a little color as they sit.

Mint sprigs: Optional, but fresh mint adds a cool, refreshing aroma that makes the whole drink feel fancy.

How to Make It

This black tea iced drink comes together in just a few simple steps.

Boil water: Bring the water to a rolling boil in a saucepan or kettle, then pour it into a heat-safe pitcher. The hot water will extract all the flavor from the tea bags.

Steep the tea: Add the black tea bags to the hot water and let them steep for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Three minutes gives you a lighter, more delicate flavor, while five minutes makes it bold and robust.

A clear glass pitcher containing hot tea with three tea bags steeping inside, the strings hanging over the edge of the pitcher.

Add mango nectar: Remove the tea bags and stir in the mango nectar. Taste and add honey if you want it sweeter. The mango nectar should give the tea a beautiful golden color.

A clear glass pitcher filled with golden-orange mango nectar. A spoon above the pitcher is pouring a thick stream of the nectar back into it.

Add mango slices: Drop in the fresh mango slices, but save a few for garnish later. The mango will infuse the tea with extra flavor as it chills.

Chill: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. The tea needs time to get cold and for the flavors to meld together.

Add raspberries: Right before serving, stir in the raspberries. If you add them too early, they'll get mushy and release too much color.

Serve: Fill glasses with ice, pour the mango iced tea over the top, and garnish with the reserved mango slices and fresh mint sprigs if using. Serve immediately while it's cold and fresh.

Substitutions and Variations

Use green tea. For iced mango green tea, swap the black tea bags for green tea. It's lighter and more delicate.

Try hibiscus tea. Mango hibiscus iced tea is a popular variation. Use hibiscus tea bags instead of black tea for a tart, floral flavor.

Add strawberries. For mango strawberry iced tea, swap the raspberries for fresh strawberry slices. They're sweeter and add a different color.

Make it with mango puree. If you want mango iced tea with mango puree, blend fresh mango with a little water until smooth, then stir it into the tea instead of using nectar.

Use mango syrup. Mango iced tea syrup is a concentrated sweetener you can buy or make at home. Use ¼ to ½ cup instead of the nectar.

Make it a cocktail. For a mango iced tea cocktail, add a shot of rum, vodka, or tequila to each glass. It turns into a fun summer party drink.

Use Lipton mango iced tea. If you want a shortcut, you can use Lipton mango iced tea bags or powder. Follow the package instructions, then add fresh fruit for extra flavor and presentation.

Equipment You'll Need

Saucepan or kettle: For boiling the water quickly and easily.

Heat-safe pitcher: A glass or ceramic pitcher that can handle hot water without cracking. This is where you'll steep the tea and store it in the fridge.

Stirring spoon: For mixing in the mango nectar and honey.

Measuring cups: To measure out the water and mango nectar accurately.

Glasses for serving: Tall glasses show off the beautiful colors of the tea and fruit.

Storage and Reheating Tips

Refrigerator: Store the mango iced tea in a covered pitcher for up to 3 days. The fruit will soften over time, so it's best enjoyed within the first day or two.

Freezer: I don't recommend freezing this tea. The fruit gets mushy when thawed, and the tea can separate.

Make-ahead: You can brew the tea and add the mango nectar and mango slices up to a day in advance. Just add the raspberries and ice right before serving.

Serving Suggestions

At summer gatherings. This is a crowd-pleaser at barbecues, picnics, and backyard parties. Make a big batch and let everyone serve themselves.

With brunch. Serve it alongside eggs, toast, or pancakes for a refreshing breakfast drink.

As an afternoon pick-me-up. The black tea has a little caffeine, so it's a nice alternative to coffee when you need a boost.

With spicy food. The sweet, fruity flavor balances out spicy dishes beautifully. Serve it with tacos, curry, or grilled chicken.

Top Tip

Don't oversteep the tea. Steeping black tea for more than 5 minutes can make it bitter and astringent. Set a timer so you don't forget.

Use good-quality mango nectar. The better the nectar, the better your tea will taste. Look for brands with real fruit and minimal added sugar.

Chill it well. The tea needs at least an hour in the fridge to get cold. If you're in a hurry, you can pour it over ice, but it'll be more diluted.

Add raspberries last. If you add them too early, they'll break down and make the tea cloudy. Stir them in right before serving for the best presentation.

Garnish generously. The mango slices and mint make the tea look beautiful and add extra flavor. Don't skip them.

Adjust the sweetness. Taste the tea before serving and add more honey if needed. Every brand of mango nectar has a different sweetness level.

FAQ

Is mango iced tea good for you?

Yes, mango iced tea can be a healthy drink. Black tea is rich in antioxidants and has a small amount of caffeine for energy. Mango nectar provides vitamins A and C, and the fresh fruit adds fiber. At just 88 calories per serving, it's a low-calorie alternative to soda or sugary drinks. If you skip the honey, it's naturally sweetened with just the fruit.

How to make iced tea mango?

To make mango iced tea, brew strong black tea by steeping tea bags in hot water for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and stir in mango nectar or juice. Add fresh mango slices and chill the tea in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Right before serving, stir in fresh raspberries, pour over ice, and garnish with mango slices and mint.

Can you drink mango tea cold?

Absolutely. Mango tea is delicious served cold, especially in warm weather. The fruity, sweet flavor is refreshing when chilled, and it's a great way to enjoy tea without the heat. You can brew it hot and then chill it, or use cold brew methods if you prefer. Either way, it's a perfect iced drink.

What is mango iced tea?

Mango iced tea is a refreshing beverage made by combining brewed black tea with mango nectar or juice, then chilling it and serving it over ice. It's often garnished with fresh mango slices, raspberries, or other fruit, and sometimes sweetened with honey or simple syrup. It's a fruity, sweet, and slightly caffeinated drink that's popular in the summer and at casual gatherings.
